Okta Selected by MGM Resorts International for Cloud-Based Identity Management

Okta's Enterprise Identity Service Allows One of the World's Largest Entertainment Companies to Reduce IT Costs & Improve Employee Productivity Amid Increased Cloud Adoption

San Francisco, CA – September 3, 2013 — Today, Okta announced that MGM Resorts International, one of the world's leading global hospitality companies with destination resort brands such as Bellagio, MGM Grand and The Mirage, chose Okta as the company's core identity and access management platform. MGM Resorts International employs more than 62,000 employees and needed a cloud-based solution to manage user access to its internal on-premises applications, as well as a growing list of cloud applications.

Initially, MGM Resorts will rely on Okta to manage access to several cloud applications, including Workday, Cornerstone OnDemand, CA Clarity OnDemand and NeoCase, and to internally developed applications such as its corporate intranet. MGM Resorts expects that list to grow as it continues its expansion into the cloud.

In addition to the seamless rollout of new applications, MGM Resorts found that it could reduce IT costs compared with on-premises directory services, while improving end user productivity by using Okta's enterprise-grade identity solution.

MGM Resorts evaluated several on-premises and cloud-based identity systems and, in the end, Okta won out for many reasons. Speed and agility were critical given MGM Resorts’ tight deadline, and Okta allowed the company to quickly and seamlessly integrate with cloud applications, including Workday and Cornerstone, as well as other MGM Resorts internal applications. For MGM Resorts International, cloud-based identity management just made sense given the company’s move to the cloud.

"A modern identity management solution is essential as enterprises of all sizes move further beyond the firewall," said Todd McKinnon, CEO, Okta. "We're excited to partner with MGM Resorts International to provide the identity layer for the company's Workday rollout and expanding cloud strategy, and to securely manage access to all of the on-premises and cloud applications its thousands of users rely on every day.
