The Team:

CIC’s Platform App Services team owns foundational services that protect the Platform’s stability and improve operational efficiency for our product services. We use a modern cloud-native tech stack that runs on AWS and Azure. We’ve adopted frameworks, tooling, and practices that optimize for developer productivity and joy.

As Engineering Manager of the Platform App Services team, you'll be the technical leader responsible for guiding a team of 5-8 backend engineers to build and operate CIC’s mission-critical platform services. You will help drive technical decisions, prioritize and organize the team’s work, and provide mentorship and career growth opportunities to your team members. 

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a diverse, talented, high-performing team of backend engineers, geographically dispersed over Europe and the Americas
  • Encourage inclusivity, engagement, innovation, and quality orientation on the team
  • Grow the team through hiring, coaching, and professional development
  • Be an active and influential contributor in prioritization, technical decision-making, and architecture reviews
  • Continually refine the team’s ways of working and team-external processes, to deliver a sustainable and predictable flow of value
  • Ensure technical maturity, reliability, security, and operational excellence for services owned by team
  • Shape roadmap and strategy for the CIC Platform, working with product management and with other engineering teams

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of experience in a formal people management role
  • Experience working with remote and geographically dispersed teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to engage effortlessly across teams and functions
  • Effective presentation skills to establish thought leadership in the team’s domain
  • Background in developing cloud-native distributed systems using modern technologies such as go, node.js, noSQL databases, Kubernetes, and AWS/Azure

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in the identity and access management (IAM) business domains
  • Experience at an enterprise SaaS product organization
  • Hands-on experience with operating and scaling high-throughput cloud-based software systems
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$166,000$250,000 USD The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $186,000$280,000 USD
