Virginia’s advice for the next generation of up and coming tech leaders:
"First, challenge received wisdom, and ask “why?” constantly, to the extent that people around you find it annoying. Second, don’t build a tool of surveillance, even if the technology is really cool. Surveillance is corrosive and privacy is a human right."
Virginia’s impact:
Virginia Murdoch is the Director of Product for the Engagement product for Culture Amp. She is accountable for delivering organizational feedback, analytics and behavior change tools to improve the work experience for executives, managers, and every employee.
Culture Amp’s Engagement product is one of their largest, and with over 2,600 companies as users, it’s the market-leader in its category. Much of the group's success can be attributed to Virginia’s product leadership. In the last year alone, her team has doubled the number of Monthly Active Users, increased the frequency with which customers collect feedback, and expanded the variety of feedback types collected.
Virginia also serves as a mentor to seven company Product Managers, providing day-to-day direction and advice to her mentees on product decisions to deliver product strategy (on time and on budget), and guides their continued development and up-skilling as world-class product practitioners.
Why she’s an Up-and-Comer:
Virginia led efforts to evolve Culture Amp’s processes, building a tool for collecting customer feedback on their product suite. Now employees anywhere in the world can easily share insights from conversations with prospects and customers. This tool allows them to collect, categorize, and prioritize over 2,000 customer product improvement ideas, translated into several major market-facing new features, in addition to a wide range of product improvements.
