We’re seeking a dynamic addition to our newly established Insider Threat Team. The Insider Threat Team has been established to detect, deter and mitigate potential security risks stemming from Okta’s personnel. Reporting to the Director, Insider Threat, you will play a key role in driving personnel investigations and identifying threats to Okta’s unique position as the world’s leading independent identity provider. You will work collaboratively with various teams across the organization to elevate our security posture through proactive monitoring and engagement. We’re looking for someone who is adept at understanding the human-centered behavior behind insider activity. 


What you’ll be doing 

  • Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures to monitor and mitigate insider threats tailored to Okta’s operating environment.
  • Work with the Security Culture team to create, develop and deliver compliance training to employees, to ensure they understand their role in protecting Okta. 
  • Help develop communication strategies to increase awareness of insider behavior across Okta.
  • Stay across insider activity trends and implement best practices for Okta.
  • Work closely with Okta’s Cyber Defense Operations and People Services to monitor user behavior and advise on abnormal patterns.
  • Conduct interviews of employees where appropriate and advise on recommended remedial actions.
  • Draft investigative reports for People Services and Legal Counsel.
  • Collaborate with Okta’s Cyber Threat Research team to share details of insider threat activity and prioritize analytics based on use cases. 


What you’ll bring to the role

  • 5+ years of investigative experience in a law enforcement, intelligence or corporate security role 
  • Ability to effectively analyze incomplete sets of information and offer recommendations whilst operating with integrity, discretion and compassion 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse multidisciplinary teams to achieve outcomes on behalf of Okta 
  • A self-starter with a proven track record of working independently in complex environments
  • Demonstrated experience in interviewing, insider threat and intelligence report writing, with cyber security skills highly regarded
  • Exceptional ability to communicate, influence, and articulate risks and present remediation options clearly to stakeholders
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, excellent problem-solving skills.
