The People Operations Team

The People Operations Team at Okta serves as a strategic business partner dedicated to enhancing employee experience, optimizing performance, and streamlining HR processes. We focus on scaling HR operational support while delivering an exceptional customer experience for our employees and key stakeholders.

The Senior Manager, People Operations Opportunity

Okta is seeking a People Operations Sr Manager who is both a strategic leader and a hands-on operator, ready to drive and refine our People Operations function with a strong commitment to operational excellence. In this role, you will actively shape and scale key people processes, ensuring they are efficient, compliant, and adaptable to our business growth. As a coach and mentor to a team of managers  you’ll set the standard for best practices, foster a collaborative culture, and work alongside the team to create a seamless and impactful employee experience.

What you’ll be doing

  • Oversee day-to-day People Operations processes (Recruit to Retire), ensuring they are efficient, compliant, and ready to scale.
  • Coach and mentor a team of People Operations managers in the Regions fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous skill development.
  • Drive operational excellence across benefits, employee relations, general services, global mobility, payroll and compensation
  • Partner with Centers of Excellence to identify opportunities to expand Shared Services. 
  • Focus on data accuracy and ensure that data integrity across the HR systems is being maintained
  • Maintain accurate process documentation (using Lucidcharts) that supports autonomy, clarity, and consistency as Okta grows.
  • Monitor SLAs, CSAT scores, and ticket volumes, implementing improvements to enhance the employee experience and reduce overall support requests.
  • Introduce innovative programs and initiatives that align with Okta’s culture while elevating operational efficiency and employee satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks on employee queries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Communicate priorities, roadmaps, and updates to stakeholders, leading end-user training and managing ongoing adoption of system changes.
  • Develop governance structures in line with HR guidelines, ensuring smooth integration of new processes and system enhancements.
  • Collaborate with HRIS (Digital Solutions) to leverage ServiceNow and Workday for automation, knowledge management, and streamlined case handling.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field (advanced degree a plus).
  • 10+ years of HR operations, shared services, project/system implementation, or change management experience.
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or team leadership capacity, managing diverse and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Expert proficiency with ServiceNow and Workday, including process re-engineering and optimization.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a focus on data, metrics, and continuous process improvement.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to translate business needs into operational requirements and drive stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven attention to detail and confidentiality when managing sensitive HR data.
  • Solid understanding of HR/Talent processes, with a track record of designing and testing workflows/reports.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple competing demands.
  • Problem-solving aptitude, with strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$158,000$238,000 USD
