The Security Platform Team

Okta’s Security Platforms team builds platform services that keep our customers secure and protect them against attack and abuse. We are a team of Data Scientists, ML engineers, ML systems engineers and Java full stack developers that are reimagining what it means to authenticate to cloud resources. 

The Senior Frontend Fullstack Opportunity

We are seeking a senior Front-End focused full stack software engineer to join our Security Platform Engineering group. This is an opportunity to build cutting-edge risk-based authentication and authorization policies and contribute to the evolution of the core system that allows Okta to enforce them throughout various layers of the Okta platform. This group manages a suite of product facing security tooling from Bot Detection to Breached Credential Protection. Your contributions will directly enable customers to understand the potential threats to their organizations and guide them towards protections that they can use in response. The ideal candidate has experience building large scale enterprise software, is passionate about visualizing security data, and has direct experience in authentication, identity, steam processing, feature engineering, or complex rule-based systems for authorization.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Be a part of a fast paced, agile team comprising engineers, a product manager, and designer.
  • Delight our customers by providing world class UX using our React-based design system
  • You will guide the technical direction and implementation of large-scale product features
  • Evaluate trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance and customer impact to ensure we build the right solution
  • Ship well-tested, secure, reliable, and maintainable code while keeping our customers best interests in mind
  • Participate in rotations to expeditiously unblock customers and make them successful.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience working in front-end UI stacks(React.js Preferred)
  • 5+ years of strong software development experience in an object oriented language building highly-reliable, mission-critical software (Java preferred)
  • Excellent grasp of software engineering principles
  • Experience working with RDBMS and NoSQL databases, TSDB a plus
  • Expertise in creating or extending rule systems
  • Experience rolling out microservices at the enterprise scale.

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following! 

  • Experience with decoupling a monolithic application into microservice architecture
  • Experience with Backbone.js, CSS, HTML
  • Experience with stream processing (Storm, Flink) and data ingestion at scale
  • Experience with machine learning / Python
  • Experience in cloud security, identity and/or authentication protocols highly desired

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:$118,000$178,000 CAD
