Ben Horowitz
Ben Horowitz joined our board in February 2010. He is a co-founder and General Partner of the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, and The New York Times bestselling author of The Hard Thing About Hard Things, which is now available in over 16 languages.
Ben co-founded and was CEO of Opsware (formerly Loudcloud) from September 1999 to September 2007, which was acquired by HP in 2007. He was Vice President and General Manager of Business Technology Optimization for Software at HP from September 2007 to October 2008. Prior to his roles at Opsware and HP, Ben was Vice President and General Manager of America Online’s E-Commerce Platform division, where he oversaw the development of the company’s flagship Shop@AOL service. Ben previously ran several product divisions at Netscape Communications, and also served as Vice President of Netscape’s Directory and Security product line. Ben was a board member of Lyft, from June 2016 to June 2020, and currently serves on the boards of several private companies.
Ben holds a B.A. in computer science from Columbia University, and an M.S. in computer science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
