Leading the way: Commemorating the establishment of our first Latinx Employee Network
As Hispanic Heritage Month unfolds, we proudly mark a significant milestone in our company's journey toward greater diversity and inclusion: the establishment of our first Latinx Employee Network. This groundbreaking initiative represents a bold step forward in creating a more inclusive and representative workplace for all.
Launching our Latinx Employee Network (LEN) is more than just the formation of a new group. It’s a testament to our commitment to fostering an environment where every voice is valued and every individual can thrive. Since its inception, LEN has already made remarkable strides in advancing our collective goals and enhancing our company culture.
One of the LEN’s notable achievements this year was its active participation in the "Latinas in Tech" summit. This prestigious event is dedicated to empowering and connecting Latinx professionals in technology. By sending members to the conference, LEN provided crucial professional development opportunities and strengthened our company’s presence and influence in the tech industry. With the knowledge and networks gained from this experience, our group is set to drive innovation and growth within our organization.
We asked members of LEN to answer a few questions about their Latinx roots and the tech industry. Here’s what they had to say.
What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you personally?
“The month where we commemorate and remember the origin of our roots through a mix of different cultures that share something so important as the language, and the traditions that can be carried over with that.”
— Carlos Fuentes, Software Engineer, IAM CIC
“It means there is a seat at the table for diverse points of view. It is a time to celebrate and acknowledge the impact that Hispanics have in shaping the future of our nation; it means that our voices matter and that we belong.”
— Claudia Farrington, Sr. PMM SLED, Public Sector Marketing
How has your cultural background influenced your career or professional journey?
“In my journey from our vibrant communities to my current role in tech sales, I’ve carried the values of hard work, innovation, and community with me every step of the way. Whether I’m navigating international markets or connecting with colleagues from around the globe, I draw inspiration from our shared heritage. Let's continue to celebrate our unique stories and the strength we bring to every table.”
— Ayde Guerrero, Sales Development Representative, LATAM
“As an expat raising a child abroad, I approach my work with passion and a strong sense of connection. I create from a place of equality, positivity, and hope. My heritage allows me to have a unique point of view and to seek meaning in my work and the communities I belong to and contribute to.”
—‚ Claudia Farrington, Sr. PMM SLED, Public Sector Marketing
How do you stay connected with your heritage in your daily life or work?
“Living in SoCal helps me remain close to my roots; we have access and proximity to Mexican flavors, folklore, and traditions. I intentionally cook food at home that follows my family recipes and belong to associations that stand for equality and equity in the workforce.”
— Claudia Farrington, Sr. PMM SLED - Public Sector Marketing
“Staying connected with my heritage goes beyond professional achievements. It’s woven into my daily life through the relationships I build, the traditions I uphold, and the language I cherish. Whether it’s sharing our cultural stories with colleagues, engaging in bilingual communication, or celebrating Mexican traditions, I draw constant inspiration from our shared heritage.”
— Ayde Guerrero, Sales Development Representative, LATAM
As we celebrate this momentous occasion, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the members of the Latinx Employee Network for their dedication and leadership. Their efforts in professional development and cultural celebration are instrumental in driving our company's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Here’s to leading the way and setting new standards of excellence. Congratulations to the Latinx Employee Network on this exciting new chapter. Your contributions are paving the path for a more inclusive and dynamic future for our entire organization.
