Okta for US Military: A New milestone in DoD IL4 Identity
The Department of Defense (DoD) is America’s largest government agency, with nearly 3 million active duty personnel, civilian employees, and reservists in more than 160 countries. It supports military families, dependents, veterans, and millions of recruits each year. Every Identity is vital to the DoD’s mission: protecting our national security.
Mission data that supports DoD operations, including personally identifiable information, is Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) which requires Impact Level 4 (IL4) protection under the DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide. Therefore, as the Department modernizes and matures its adoption of the cloud, it needs an IL4-ready mission partner for Identity: Okta.
A new milestone in DoD IL4 Identity
In May 2021, Okta achieved a conditional DoD IL4 Provisional Authorization (PA), an important step in our ongoing commitment to the Department. Today, I’m pleased to announce an exciting new milestone in DoD IL4 Identity readiness: Okta for US Military.
Okta for US Military is our all-new IL4 Identity environment designed exclusively for the DoD and approved mission partners. Hosted on the .mil domain (okta.mil) and built atop AWS GovCloud, Okta for US Military meets the stringent security requirements necessary for Controlled Unclassified Information. It also connects through a Boundary Cloud Access Point (BCAP) to protect the Defense Information Systems Network.
