Celebrating Our First Office in DACH: Okta Connect Munich
Earlier this year, we celebrated our 10-year anniversary. It's hard to imagine that just a decade ago, Okta was made from two people working away in a tiny office in San Francisco. Munich is our twelfth office, in our eighth country, bringing our Oktanauts number to over 1,900 employees.
To celebrate our new office opening, and our formal expansion into the DACH region, we hosted Okta Connect on September 23rd. Local customers like Merz Pharma and Bertelsmann, global partners such as Zoom, Slack and Box, industry analyst Martin Kuppinger, non-profit organisation ReDI School of Digital Integration, as well as our own Frederic Kerrest and Jesper Frederiksen, joined me and a full room of attendees to discuss all things identity, security, and digital transformation.
From this action-packed day, here are some highlights:
The stories of successful customers
We heard from two of our German customers during the day, Bertelsmann and Merz Pharma GmbH. Nima Attarzadeh from Merz and David Harlos from Bertelsmann, talked us through how they are modernising their businesses and how Okta workforce and customer identity products are helping them achieve their goals. Our key priority is to make our customers successful, so we were honoured to hear this directly from them on stage.
Launching Okta for Good in Germany
At Okta, we work to make our world more diverse and inclusive. We believe that building pathways into tech for high potential talent from our local communities around the world is one of the best and most direct ways we can make an impact as a company.
Our Okta for Good programme is going from strength to strength, and we were thrilled to kick it off with Sophie Jonke from ReDI School for Digital Integration, a nonprofit organisation that uses technology to break down barriers and connect the digital leaders of tomorrow.
The future of work is here!
In a panel moderated by Okta General Manager EMEA, Jesper Frederiksen, the regional leaders of our strategic partners, Box, Zoom and Slack discussed how a best-of-breed IT stack helps today’s IT leaders to be more agile and innovative. The conversation focussed on how the best technology drives usage, value and revenue as well as highlighting the importance of having a workplace culture that is wired to change.
We wrapped-up the event with a visit to Oktoberfest to thank our customers and partners for being with us as we celebrate this first milestone in Munich. The Okta journey in DACH is only just beginning—we’re looking forward to enabling any DACH-based organisation to use any technology!
